23 Oct Becoming Dr. Seuss
I am also reading the biography of Dr. Seuss because we are putting a program together for Dr. Seuss’ birthday. I also loved Brian Jay Jones’ biographies of Jim Henson and George Lucas. I read a quote today by Seuss where he wrote an article about why he believed in writing for children. He said that it was important not to talk to children as “Kiddie Widdies” but as directly as possible and to treat them like they are smart. He also said that “adult” is a term used for an “obsolete child” and I love that. The most challenging part of being an adult is to nurture and not lose that sense of playfulness which children naturally have.
