05 Nov Circles of Communication
We had an amazing time performing at New York Public Library this morning on Election Day! The house was packed. All of the kids danced, sang and checked out books after the performance.
One thing I was also thinking about this week is the idea of circles of communication. My son is around 15-months old. On Saturday he was sitting in his high chair eating his food and I sat next to him. He started pulling on my sleeve to get my attention while I was eating. Then he started mimicking the things I was doing. He said “Ah!” And I said “Ah!” Then he copied the way I did it. Then I sang “Ahhhhh!” And he sang “Ahhhh!” Then I wiggled my lips and he wiggled his lips. There were several back and forth between us. It was fascinating and a very special moment as a parent.
My question is how can we create more back and forth? More circles of communication? And how can we teach kids to open communications and close communications?
